Ride a gravel road behind a bakkie and you will hear it: stones pinging off the front of the bike. Most of them miss. The one that doesn’t usually finds the headlight.
Why it matters on a KTM
Modern KTM adventure bikes use LED headlight units, which are expensive to replace and not always quick to get hold of. A guard costs a small fraction of a new unit.
Clear or mesh?
Clear acrylic or polycarbonate guards keep the look of the bike and don’t change the light pattern. Mesh guards are tougher against big stones but you can see them, and they can scatter a little light at night. For mostly-gravel riding in South Africa, a good clear guard suits most riders.
Fit matters
Headlights changed shape between generations, so a guard for one 1290 Super Adventure may not fit another. We list the exact models and years on every guard. 1290 Super Adventure accessories · 890 Adventure · 790 Adventure.
